The educational standards of our department are structured within the framework of the following criteria, based on national and international quality assurance principles.
Program Teaching Objectives
- To prepare our students for their academic and professional careers by providing them with analytical and critical thinking skills, in addition to a solid theoretical foundation and field research experience.
- To conduct and disseminate studies that will enrich the field through the collaboration of academic staff and students.
- To provide beneficial services to science and society through academic events and educational programs supported by international collaborations.
Program-Specific Criteria
- To possess knowledge about the core areas of the sociology discipline.
- To have knowledge about the historical development of sociology and sociological analysis; as well as the fundamental ontological, epistemological, methodological, and theoretical issues, adopted perspectives, and basic concepts related to the analysis of social life.
- To be able to comprehend the functioning mechanisms of social processes, relations, and structures.
- The methodological design and implementation of research projects that will serve as a foundation for developing original policy strategies, and the analysis of data obtained during this process using appropriate analytical methods and techniques.
Program Learning Outcomes
- Utilizes basic theoretical approaches in sociology, and demonstrates critical thinking by means of comparative and historical analyses.
- Designs scientific research using appropriate methods in order to find answers to sociological questions. Uses up-to-date data and technology to create sociological assessment reports.
- Develops creative solutions with a critical and scientific mindset for sociological issues and formulates appropriate social policy recommendations.
