The meeting, held at the Fatma Altınbaş Conference Hall on the Altınbaş University Mahmutbey Technology Campus, was attended by a large number of guests. Among the attendees were Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş, Minister of Family and Social Services; Abdullah Uçgun, Bağcılar District Governor; Yasin Yıldız, Mayor of Bağcılar; İmam Altınbaş, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Altınbaş University; and Acting Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Argun Karacabey.

Delivering a speech at the meeting, Minister of Family and Social Services Mahinur Özdemir Göktaş stated that a family environment dominated by love, trust, and responsibility both strengthens individuals' lives and shapes the future of children.

"Behaviors witnessed at home leave a mark"

Expressing that a person's resilience in life grows as support within the family increases, Minister Göktaş said: "When we look at it from the perspective of children, the importance of the family environment becomes even more evident. A child grows up healthier in a home where they feel safe. A child who sees their parents listening to each other, solving problems through communication, and showing mutual respect is better prepared for life. The language established within the family is the foundation of the life the child will build. The words they hear and the behaviors they witness at home leave a lasting mark on their personality. Therefore, strengthening the family means strengthening the future of our children."

Minister Göktaş continued, "With this belief, we approach the institution of the family with multi-faceted perspectives. We are resolutely carrying the ideal of a 'Strong Turkey with Strong Families' into the future." Noting that 2025 has been declared the "Year of the Family" and the 2026–2035 period as the "Decade of Family and Population," Göktaş added that they have increased the visibility of family-supporting services across many areas, from intra-family communication to digital security.

"Adolescence is now behind us"

In his opening remarks, Acting Rector of Altınbaş University Prof. Dr. Ali Argun Karacabey stated: "Today, we have come together for a very meaningful project, but I want to remind you of something. Exactly 18 years ago today, on May 22nd, a law was passed in the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. With that law, Altınbaş University was founded. Today is our birthday. As I said, we gathered for another purpose, but I wanted to take a moment to commemorate this milestone. Today we turned 18, and our adolescence is now behind us. Our university has become an adult."

Touching upon the significance of the "Strong Family, Happy Future" project, Prof. Dr. Karacabey added: "We aim and desire for this to be a project that originates in Bağcılar and sheds light on all of Turkey. Hopefully, with the support of the Ministry, the guidance of the District Governorate, and the efforts of our university, this project will illuminate the future."

Following the opening speeches, İmam Altınbaş, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Altınbaş University, presented a plaque of appreciation to Minister Göktaş. The closing event concluded with a detailed presentation of the project by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nur Banu Kavaklı Birdal, Director of the Altınbaş University Center for Society, Women, and Family Studies, and Meltem Özkan, Bağcılar Social Services Projects Coordinator.
