Ancient DNA Research Laboratory
The Ancient DNA Research Laboratory focuses on human paleodemography and diseases, investigating the genetic traces of ancient epidemics and illnesses. Macroscopic and microscopic analyses are conducted on human and animal specimens obtained from excavation sites and museums. The laboratory studies eukaryotes (humans, plants, animals, fungi) and prokaryotes (bacteria, viruses) to examine genetic changes in prehistoric and historical periods and their impact on health and disease processes. Through its work, the laboratory sheds light on the health dynamics of ancient times.

Central Research Laboratory (MERLAB)
The purpose of establishing the Altınbaş University Central Research Laboratory (MERLAB) is to serve as a central laboratory equipped with instruments that meet the R&D analysis needs of both our university and public and industrial organizations. MERLAB provides all the necessary laboratory facilities required for conducting interdisciplinary R&D activities and supporting national and international project submissions.
Our center is equipped with instruments capable of supporting research in various fields, including physics, chemistry, biology, plants, food, environment, medicine, pharmacy, and dentistry.
Nanomaterials and Chemometrics Research Group
The research group conducts both experimental and computational studies. Experimental work focuses on the synthesis of novel and sustainable nanomaterials in the laboratory. Additionally, research is carried out on the production and characterization of functional biopolymer materials for environmental, biomedical, and pharmaceutical applications.
In the field of computational sciences, the group performs computer simulations of physicochemical systems and advanced chemometric analyses.

Marketing and Neuromarketing Application and Research Center (AU INOVA)
At our center, innovative studies are conducted by examining human behavior through the lenses of various disciplines, primarily neuroscience, as well as psychology, sociology, anthropology, and philosophy. The neuroscience laboratory aims to advance our understanding of the neural and physiological mechanisms underlying behavior and to develop “real-life solutions” based on this understanding. The center is equipped to conduct various tests, including communication effectiveness tests, advertisement tests, visual design element tests, logo tests, packaging tests, shelf placement efficiency tests, website user experience tests, mobile user experience tests, and AA (Approach-Avoidance) tests.

Plasmonic Nanosensors Research Group
The research group focuses on the design and fabrication of plasmonic nanosensors. The working principle of the designed plasmonic nanosensors is based on the interaction between light and conductive materials, causing collective oscillation of electrons within the conductive material and generating high-intensity electromagnetic fields. At the frequency where the interaction is strongest, the amplitude of the plasmons increases and becomes localized in specific regions of the nanosensor. At this frequency, where light is converted into plasmons, the reflection spectrum reaches its maximum. The group’s studies primarily focus on biosensors used in solar cells and biological structures. Based on the data obtained during the design process, cleanroom fabrication is carried out. The resulting sensors are then utilized in relevant applications.
- Research Group Coordinator: Prof. Dr. Yasa Ekşioğlu Özok
Psychology Application and Research Center (APAM)
APAM conducts interdisciplinary research activities in collaboration with the Social and Developmental Psychology Research Laboratory. In addition to research activities, APAM aims to extend the university’s potential beyond its students to all layers of society by working with units such as the Clinical Application Unit and the Child University, providing psychological services outside the university. The Child University and Youth Research Unit within APAM were established with support from the Istanbul Development Agency. Since 2022, the Clinical Psychology Application Unit has provided an environment where students of the Clinical Psychology Master’s program at Altınbaş University can develop high-level professional skills and ethical values under the supervision of professionals. The unit offers the necessary setting for observation, interviews, psychological testing, and psychotherapy practices.
