About Us

The Altınbaş Psychology Application and Research Center (APAM) was established in March 2012. The center's purpose is to conduct research, development, analysis, and application in various fields of psychology, organize short- and long-term education and training programs, and thereby contribute to Altınbaş University's mission of serving society and advancing scientific knowledge, as well as to the development of cooperation with public and international organizations. APAM continues its activities through scientific research projects involving both department faculty members' independent research projects and students of the Altınbaş University Psychology Undergraduate and Graduate Programs, as well as seminars, conferences, congresses, and similar scientific meetings.

The center's areas of activity can be listed as follows:

  • Conducting research, development, investigation, application studies, and projects in the field of psychology and producing scientific publications.
  • Engaging in continuing education and lifelong learning activities in the field of psychology.
  • Providing psychological services to individuals with psychological problems in society.
  • Organizing and contributing to courses, seminars, conferences, congresses, in-service training programs, and similar scientific meetings related to the fields of psychology.
  • Collaborating with national and international organizations in the field of psychology.
  • Providing practical training under supervision to master's and doctoral students.

Under the umbrella of APAM, our Social Psychology and Developmental Psychology research laboratory conducts research in both these fields and in interdisciplinary studies at the intersection of these two subfields. The aim is to strengthen scientific competence, train future academics, support students and researchers in building their desired careers, and leave a tangible legacy for the next generation of students and researchers by conducting scientific studies and training researchers within the research laboratory. To achieve these goals, our Center provides the necessary support to ensure that undergraduate projects and master's theses are published, guides students and researchers in obtaining physical, financial, and academic support through projects, and provides an environment where students and researchers can present, discuss, apply, and develop their research.

APAM focuses not only on research activities but also on applied activities. Through units such as the Clinical Application Unit and the Children's University, it aims to extend the university's potential beyond its own students to all segments of society and provides psychological services outside the university as well. The Children's University and Youth Research Unit within APAM were established with the support of the Istanbul Development Agency. Within this scope, between 2012 and 2020, workshops with different content and themes were held with the participation of 4,066 children from a total of 44 schools/institutions. As of 2022, the Clinical Psychology Practice Unit provides an environment where students of Altınbaş University's Clinical Psychology Master's program can perform the necessary observations, interviews, psychological tests, and psychotherapy applications under the supervision of supervisors, enabling them to become clinicians with high-level professional skills and a commitment to ethical values.

The interview rooms hosting the Social and Developmental Psychology Research Laboratory and the Clinical Psychology Application Unit, which operate within the Altınbaş University Psychology Application and Research Center (APAM) and the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, have been in use in rooms numbered 7. The center has one “Social-Developmental Interview Room” and three “Clinical Interview Rooms.”
