The Pharmacy Services Programme is an associate degree programme aimed at training qualified healthcare technicians who will contribute to the safe, effective and high-quality provision of pharmaceutical and healthcare services. As part of the programme, students receive theoretical and practical training in the preparation, storage, dispensing and record-keeping of medicines, as well as in prescription assessment, patient communication and pharmacy management.
Pharmacy Services Technicians are healthcare professionals who work under the supervision and oversight of a pharmacist in independent pharmacies, hospital pharmacies and various sectors of the pharmaceutical industry, contributing to the orderly and effective delivery of pharmaceutical services. Through the knowledge and skills they acquire during their training, they gain competence in areas such as medication safety, pharmaceutical practices, healthcare legislation and a patient-centred approach to service.
In the Pharmacy Services Programme at our University’s School of Health Services, students receive two years of theoretical and practical training in areas such as pharmacology, pharmaceutical knowledge, pharmaceutical practice, health legislation and professional ethics; they are also supported in developing their professional knowledge and skills through work placement opportunities.
