Double Major and Minor Programs
Double Major
Double Major / Minor programs are free of charge.
Double Major Program (DMP): A program that enables students enrolled in an undergraduate degree program to simultaneously pursue a second undergraduate or associate degree program of their choice, and students enrolled in an associate degree program to pursue a second associate degree program, leading to the award of a second diploma upon successful completion.
Double Major programs are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, Minor Programs and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer in Higher Education Institutions” and the Altınbaş University Double Major Program Directive and Minor Program Directive.
Application Requirements (Double Major)
- Students may apply to a second major diploma program at the beginning of the third semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the fifth semester at the latest in four-year undergraduate programs; at the beginning of the seventh semester in five-year programs; at the beginning of the ninth semester in six-year programs. For associate degree programs, applications may be made at the beginning of the second semester at the earliest and at the beginning of the third semester at the latest.
- The quota for double major students is determined by the University Senate. Applicants must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 and rank within the top 20% of their cohort in the major program. In addition, higher education institutions may determine quotas under the conditions specified below, and students may apply within the scope of these conditions.
- Except for law, medicine, health sciences, and engineering programs, the quotas for double major programs shall be determined by the University Senate and may not be less than 20% of the program quota. Students who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 out of 4.00 in their major program but who are not ranked within the top 20% of their cohort may also apply, provided that their university entrance score is not lower than the minimum admission score of the double major program for the relevant academic year.
- In order to apply to a double major diploma program, students must have successfully completed all courses in their major program up to the semester in which they apply.
Minor Program
Minor programs are free of charge.
Minor Program: A program that enables students who are successfully pursuing an undergraduate degree program to simultaneously take courses in a second undergraduate program of their interest and earn a certificate upon successful completion.
Minor programs are carried out in accordance with the provisions of the “Regulation on the Principles of Transfer Between Associate and Undergraduate Degree Programs, Double Major, Minor Programs and Inter-Institutional Credit Transfer in Higher Education Institutions” and the Altınbaş University Double Major Program Directive and Minor Program Directive.
Application Requirements (Minor)
- Students may apply to a minor program no earlier than the beginning of the third semester and no later than the beginning of the sixth semester of their major undergraduate program.
- Students who have successfully completed all credit-bearing courses in their undergraduate program up to the semester of application may apply.
- At the time of application, students must have a cumulative GPA of at least 2.50 out of 4.00 in their major program.
- Admission is finalized upon the recommendation of the relevant department and the approval of the corresponding Faculty Administrative Board.
