Following the Flood and Cave Search and Rescue Training they recently completed, Altınbaş University AFAD Volunteers Club successfully completed the Forest Fire Volunteer Training and were entitled to take an active role in natural disasters. The club members also assumed a great responsibility in the forest fires that caused sadness throughout the country and participated in the fire extinguishing works under the coordination of the teams of the General Directorate of Forestry.
On the evening of Thursday, August 15, an emergency response team of 15 people, including 2 students from the University, was formed upon an emergency call for help. The team, which included club volunteers, took action to intervene in the forest fire that could not be brought under control in Bolu's Göynük district.
After the necessary equipment was shipped to the region from the university warehouse at night before going to the intervention area, the team moved from Bolu Göynük Dedeler Village to Umurlar Village where the fire was effective. The teams, divided into groups of 3 and 4 with the buddy system, supported hose carrying, fire extinguishing and cooling works. Altınbaş University students, who successfully applied the techniques they learned in the trainings, carried out a clean and effective intervention thanks to their careful and coordinated work.
After the fire was brought under control, another team of 13 Altınbaş University students stood ready for possible new reports. Volunteer students were appreciated for their hard work and determination in fighting the fire.
