They Will Be Able to Respond to Forest Fires and Floods

Altınbaş University Search and Rescue Club successfully completed the Flood and Cave Search and Rescue Training. 15 club members will be able to participate in AFAD coordination in possible disasters.

Altınbaş University Search and Rescue Club continues its comprehensive trainings on search and rescue and disaster management.

Club member students added new skills to their search and rescue skills with the Flood and Cave Search and Rescue Training in Orhaneli, Bursa.

The students received comprehensive training on horizontal and vertical transitions and search and rescue scenarios using boats; they performed search and rescue practices and climbing activities in the cave.

This is not the first training of the students who actively participated in the “Disaster of the Century” earthquake centered in Kahramanmaraş and affecting 11 provinces on February 6. So far, the students have received many trainings from competent names in the field. Club member students had previously received first aid training from the Ministry of Health and received first aid certificates.

The students, who also participated in the trainings organized at Yeşilköy AFAD Training Center and Istanbul Fire Brigade Resneli Training Center, completed light search and rescue trainings on topics such as entry to the rubble, use of heavy machinery in the rubble, first intervention to the disaster victim and evacuation of the disaster victim from the rubble.

Thanks to these trainings, the 15-member team has become competent enough to go to the disaster area as a support team in possible disaster situations and participate in the works under the coordination of AFAD.

The team, which is selflessly preparing not only for natural disasters but also for forest fires, will continue its preparations against fires that may break out in different provinces with an additional training in coordination with the General Directorate of Forestry.
