The students’ graduation projects, developed over their four years of study, were displayed for appreciation in the foyer area of the 100th Year Conference Hall at the Gayrettepe Campus.
“Türkiye’s gold and jewelry tradition continues uninterrupted”
Delivering the opening speech, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Nurcan Perdahcı highlighted Türkiye’s millennia-old jewelry design tradition:
“Rooted in the thousands of years of jewelry design history in the Anatolian region, Türkiye’s tradition of gold and jewelry production continues uninterrupted. The jewelry displayed by our students today is the result of four years of rigorous education.”
Prof. Dr. Perdahcı also emphasized that department students participated in the Istanbul Jewelry Show, one of the five largest jewelry fairs in the world, with the support of the university, and achieved significant rankings in national competitions. She noted that the department was accredited in 2023 by the international accreditation organization ACQUIN and stated, “Our students receive education according to universal standards and secure their place in the national and international jewelry and design world.”
At the end of her speech, Prof. Dr. Perdahcı thanked Department Chair Arzu Altınçelik Teke, the academic staff, and the team from the Department of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts for their contributions to organizing the exhibition.
“This department is very valuable to us”
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ali Argun Karacabey emphasized Altınbaş University’s strong tradition, stating: “Altınbaş University draws its strength from the long-established structure of Altınbaş Holding. Therefore, the place of the Department of Jewelry and Jewelry Design in our university is very special and valuable.”
“Gold is no longer just an investment; it is a story and a matter of design”
Chairman of the Board of Trustees İmam Altınbaş began by highlighting that Altınbaş University was the first to establish a four-year Jewelry and Jewelry Design program in Türkiye. He noted that the perception of gold has evolved over the years, saying:
“Today, people no longer buy gold solely as an investment. They seek a story, a design, a meaning. The works we see here today are a beautiful reflection of this understanding.”
Concluding his speech, İmam Altınbaş congratulated the students exhibiting their projects and wished them continued success: “I congratulate all the students showcasing their designs here and wish them all the best.”
Following the exhibition opening, a cocktail event was held where delicious appetizers and beverages prepared by the Faculty of Applied Sciences Gastronomy Department were offered to the participants.
