Visit to Altınbaş by Brazilian precious metals representatives

İmam Altınbaş, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Altınbaş University, met with representatives of associations and federations representing the jewelry sector operating in Brazil. The Brazilian delegation spoke highly of the Turkish jewelry sector.

During a visit to Altınbaş University's Gayrettepe Campus the previous day, Rio de Janeiro Jewelers, Goldsmiths, and Precious Stones Association President and Firjan – Director of the Rio de Janeiro State Industry Federation, and Eliana Rossi Andrello, President of the Jewelry Sector at the Firjan Research and Development Center, held a meeting with İmam Altınbaş, Chairman of our Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Altınbaş Holding. 

The visit was also attended by Selçuk Uysaler, Secretary General of our university, Acting Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences Prof. Dr. Nurcan Perdahçı, Head of the Corporate Communications and Promotion Department Tahsin Aksu, and Head of the International Relations and Cooperation Department Ebru Aytanç, as well as academics from our Jewelry and Jewelry Design Department.  

İmam Altınbaş: “We are the world leader in jewelry.”  

İmam Altınbaş expressed his pleasure at meeting with Brazilian industry representatives and stated that they are open to cooperation in various areas. Altınbaş emphasized that Türkiye is a world leader in labor and art-based jewelry, saying, "Türkiye is currently among the world's leading jewelry producers. We have around 40,000 jewelers operating and export to more than 200 countries. Türkiye's exports were $36 billion in 2002 and are now approaching $300 billion. Significant strides have been made, especially in the last 20 years. We have achieved a tenfold growth not only in the jewelry sector but in all sectors."  

Pinheiro: “There is significant growth in the Turkish jewelry sector”  

Carla Pinheiro from the delegation also spoke highly of the Turkish jewelry and gemstone sector, noting that it has gained noticeable momentum in recent times, stating, "We are closely following the sector in Türkiye. There are very serious and significant developments, especially in the jewelry field. We want to examine the technological innovations here firsthand and improve the machines we use in production."
During the meeting, views were exchanged on potential joint projects and collaborations that could be carried out between institutions of the two countries.
