November 14 – World Diabetes Day
Diabetes is a significant public health issue with increasing prevalence and a substantial impact on individuals’ quality of life. Therefore, strengthening public awareness is of great importance.
In this context, an event was organized by the Faculty of Health Sciences, featuring a presentation aimed at increasing participants’ knowledge about the symptoms, risk factors, prevention methods, and healthy lifestyle habits related to diabetes. During the session delivered by Specialist Nurse Hülya Gülyüz Demir from the Turkish Diabetes Association, the importance of early diagnosis in diabetes management, the necessity of regular health check-ups, and strategies individuals can adopt to improve their own health behaviors were discussed.
The event emphasized that the fight against diabetes is a shared responsibility—not only of healthcare professionals but of all members of society. Healthy nutrition, physical activity, regular monitoring, and conscious health behaviors were once again highlighted as critical factors in the prevention and management of diabetes.
World Diabetes Day serves as an important reminder that supports efforts to increase diabetes awareness. On this occasion, we encourage all individuals to take conscious steps toward protecting their health and to develop greater sensitivity and awareness regarding diabetes.
