Undergraduate Program

The International Trade Program aims to produce graduates with leadership skills who are equipped with the following competences:

  • A strong multi-disciplinary academic background - including international business, economics, finance, and law – capable of developing and implementing effective international trade and business strategies for improved business performance
  • The ability to think critically, diagnose international trade and business problems, formulate innovative solutions, and make effective international trade decisions
  • The ability to adapt to change in a rapidly-evolving global environment
  • The potential for academic research and knowledge creation should one desire to continue to undertake graduate level studies.

In addition to providing a world-class international trade education, through close interaction and collaboration between faculty, business and industry, and professional, civic and governmental organizations, our program is designed to nurture our students to become contributing members of their team, organization and society by bolstering:

  • Competence in written and oral communication in English and Turkish.
  • Cultural appreciation and respect for diversity.
  • A strong sense of personal integrity, professional ethics and social responsibility.
  • An appreciation and motivation for the lifelong learning process and the ability to assess and improve their personal development.

Graduates of the Undergraduate International Trade Program should:

  • Understand of the essential body of knowledge in the international trade discipline (economic theory, management theory, international business, international finance, international logistics, and international commercial law).
  • Be able to relate international trade theories with real-life applications, develop effective international trade strategies, and make decisions that support the organizational mission and goals.
  • Understand the uncertainties and risks in international trade and business and make decisions to mitigate these risks.
  • Be able to evaluate the current events and trade applications in the international business environment and diagnose international trade and business problems.
  • Be able to conceptualize and formulate solutions to international trade and business problems and make the appropriate recommendations to improve business performance.
  • Have the awareness and understanding of the legal framework that shapes the boundaries of international trade and business.
  • Understand the main actors, challenges and dynamics of the global business environment.
  • Be able to effectively communicate in writing or orally with individuals from diverse backgrounds in English and Turkish.
  • Be able to select and effectively utilize available resources to collect and analyze data, and draw appropriate conclusions from their research.
  • Be able to use common computer technologies employed in international trade and business.
  • Understand the importance of adaptability and the need to manage change in a complex and rapidly evolving global business environment.
  • Be able to appreciate and recognize contributions of individuals from diverse backgrounds, and effectively communicate and positively contribute as a team leader or member.
  • Demonstrate their awareness and understanding of active citizenship, social responsibility, and ethical standards in the international trade and business profession.
  • Understand the importance of self-assessment and life-long learning in order to maintain personal and professional development.
